Freshman Commuter Retreat

Student & staff in front of UMBC Bus

Join OCSS for our annual fall semester Freshman Commuter Retreat! This experience is designed to support you and your transition from high school to the UMBC Community. At UMBC, we value relationships, connecting with others and building community. This is a special opportunity for you to ignite your own creativity and leadership while forming lasting friendships.

For Fall 2019 students can choose to attend the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C or a high/low ropes course off-campus! Everyone who attends gets free lunch and a t-shirt that we strongly encourage you to change in to upon your arrival, so please dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes. Transportation to D.C. and the ropes course is also included. Feel free to bring an extra water bottle if you’d like!

Past participants have really enjoyed the Freshman Commuter Retreat!  Here’s what some past participants have said:

I met my best friend at the Commuter Retreat — I’m so glad I attended!

It was a great opportunity to meet new students and feel connected.

After attending this retreat, I feel like a part of the UMBC community.

If you would like to register to attend please fill out this form.
